Konkuk University Holdings Holds Performance Review for Outstanding Subsidiaries, Including IPO-Bound CAV
[ZDNET Korea] Konkuk University announced on the 11th that Konkuk University Holdings, which is responsible for commercializing the university’s technologies and research成果, held a performance review for its outstanding subsidiaries on the 10th at Azalea Hall in The Classic 500, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul.
CAV, the first subsidiary established by Konkuk University Holdings and led by Professor Song Chang-seon, began as a company specializing in animal vaccines and has since expanded into the development of vaccines for zoonotic diseases and the commercialization of animal genetic resources. The company reported that it successfully raised a total of KRW 10.8 billion in investment in 2020 and 2021 and is now preparing for an initial public offering (IPO).
Founded in 2020, StemExOne, led by Professor Ssang-Goo Cho, specializes in the development of stem cell-derived exosome therapeutics. Based on its proprietary large-scale exosome production technology, the company is developing a range of exosome-based therapeutics and high-functionality exosome-derived biomaterials. This year, StemExOne secured a KRW 200 million investment from the Korea University Holdings Startup Fund and became the first Konkuk University Holdings subsidiary to be selected for the TIPS program, establishing a stronger foundation for commercialization.
MegaLab, led by CEO Yoon Yeo-min, specializes in microbiome-based health functional foods and functional cosmetics. The company aims to achieve KRW 20 billion in revenue by 2024 through expansion into markets including animal feed and infant weaning foods.
T-In Technology, led by CEO Choi Jae-hyuk, develops low-dose, high-resolution X-ray components. Selected for the Innovative Startup Package this year, the company announced plans to secure investment from a startup fund in 2023.
Konkuk University Holdings was established in 2014 to create a virtuous cycle of research and development by generating revenue through the commercialization of university research outcomes. Since its establishment, it has launched a total of 16 subsidiaries. With total capital of KRW 5.134 billion, the company is currently carrying out a range of government-supported initiatives, including BRIDGE+ and the Technology Management Center (TMC) program.
The event was attended by Yoon Dong-yeol, CEO of Konkuk University Holdings and Head of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation; Kang Rin-woo, Vice President of Konkuk University Holdings; Park Jae-min, Head of Konkuk University’s Startup Support Center; and executives and employees from the holding company and its subsidiaries.
During the event, certificates of recognition were presented to 10 actively operating subsidiaries, and outstanding subsidiaries shared their achievements, performance, and plans for the following year with the broader group of affiliated companies.
